"I Gotta Try" from the same album. :) The Kenny Loggins version is great too! And another Loggins tune, "Keep the Fire," for when I wanna have a good cry about everything.
Parts of myself I was ignoring included my gut, my intuition. Powerful to think about, but doing so tends to silence or shrink your spirit’s true voice, negate needs, and compromises safety in order to make others comfortable. That shit stopped. I am proud of myself for that, because now I see people just like Neo did, 1’s and 0’s, programs they are running and trying to force me to agree to the Terms & Conditions of… and I won’t.
I am calling that a win, even though it’s currently left me friendless in the town I live in. I’m rich in decades-long friendships, albeit long distance.
Yes I can totally relate to how becoming more self-aware and setting appropriate boundaries etc etc changes our friendship. Cheers to never going back to our former Matrix selves, mate! 🤘🏼
Great piece and thank you for sharing. So many songs. Jazz. Classical. But more than ever In last year have been really making an effort to pay attention to new music from all genres but especially pop. Every day I feel like my mantra is "It was not always thus." Feel like I/we have let the youth down in so many ways. But the youth are vibrant and smart. I hear and see it in music. So many amazing songs of reflection, protest, life. Last night just needed Kiesza " When I'm Dancing " and there she was!
Too many songs to list. But the Music Lesson by Victor Wooten really served as a magical source of inspiration to me when I was lost a few years ago.
I’ll have to check that out. Thanks so much for reading and commenting, Tamara!
